It can be difficult to find a position in an advanced position with only a high school education. However, if you are willing to work in some of the retail stores or restaurants in entry positions, and demonstrate an excellent work ethic, they often look at those traits when promoting into the junior management and management positions.

While I am sure your goal is not to work in these types of jobs, we all start somewhere. In order to get through college and on through school I worked in service stations, delis, and then was able to get training to work in entry health care positions.

It is a good idea to look at the local technical training opportunities available. Consider in a climate like San Antonio how important HVAC air conditioning repair is, or learning plumbing. The entry level may not be great, but it has good potential.
Reply:Look we all had to start some where with the crappy hours and worked nights and weekends. It seems you want to avoid that and start at the top . How original . You must be the first person in all of Texas to come up with that idea.........

Reply:You are a HS grad...you will likely have to humble yourself and accept a job doing menail things...like the ones you mentioned you don't want. If you are going to college, you might try Bill Millers. I think they still do tuition assistance. Also, when you go to interviews in more professional positions, you might use that as a bargaining chip...see who you can find who will do tuition assistance for you. After a year, you may slide into a less menial job, as your skills will be coming more rounded. People often think that jobs like you mentioned and a more professional position have no transferable skills...but they do. You just have to know how to translate them. As far as HEB goes, I have yet to enter an HEB where the employees weren't smiling. They're always acting like everything is just fine and they seem happy to be there! There must be something to that! Maybe they just have a great, satisfying job!
Reply:Chase bank, in the call center. my friend works there and makes about 700 a paycheck. not sure what the hourly is, but i believe its over 10$, or right round there. Also the container store is a good place to work, when i lived there i worked seasonal "visual sales" which is a nice way to say you are working truck, or stocking the shelves. i made 10$ starting out, if you are an early riser than that might appeal to you. i know the cashiers there made 9-10$ an hr base on experience. Also Pearson Professional Centers, as a test administrator. You basically check people in for there various tests and make sure they dont cheat, i believe the pay is around 9.50/hr. not sure if they are hiring though. If you go to the website though its easier to just scroll down to careers and search it by state.
Reply:I'm surprised you didn't consider the Air Farce (sorry, I'm ex-Navy and there's always been a rivalry).

You train at Lackland, get to do something with aviation, and best yet, wear rank insignia that no one can decipher!

Money for college (and your chicks for free).
Reply:Good luck. My two sons are going through the same thing. HEB, Walmart, and fast food seem to be all who hire high school grads unless you are at the right place at the right time. LIke try a brand new opening store.
Reply:you could always try wal mart or retail. or if your good looking a club and be a dancer/waitress. if sa is anything like austin right now finding a job wont be easy. atleast one that pays well.
