What's the best way to go when you currently have a job and are looking for another?

I would suggest, to let them know you are "looking" not necessarly leaving, but "looking".

its much worse, if you dont tell them anything, then they get a call from a prospective employer to verify employment.

it looks very bad to both.

the prospective employer wont hire you because they will think you will do the same to them.
What's the best way to go when you currently have a job and are looking for another?
your community employment services.
Reply:You could update your information on your resume and post it online. Schedule interviews on your days off...or take a vacation day on the day of your interviews for a new job. Once your find a new job and are ready to make the move, ask your new boss for 2 weeks before starting so you may put in your 2 week notice at your current place of employment. Remember to complete all the work your are to do at your current job to the best of your ability and do not burn any bridges. Good luck!
Reply:What do you mean go? You mean leave work for interviews?

Just take the time off as vacation time and don't give an explanation.
Reply:Stay with your current job if you can and on your offtime, keep looking. If your boss asks about what you are doing and why, just be honest with him/her.

Looking for a job?

Should an agency ask you for your payslip of a previous job in a company that you left, should you give it to them? I think that people look for better paying jobs and therefore cannot divulge exactly how much they earned in their previous employment.
Looking for a job?
i don't think so! that is private information. alot of places do ask what your rate of pay was at your previous employers and you fill that in on your application. i would ask them why is it needed? the only places i know of that should see payslips are legal offices like for people who need to get or pay child support or recieve benefits like foodstamps and medicaid.
Reply:Oh no!!!

They Should NOT ask!

And you should NOT give it!!
Reply:i don't think you should give it to them, UNLESS you know they're reputable, and practise a privacy policy or sorts. such agency scams are quite common these days. so it's better to keep personal details to yourself.
Reply:i agree with you.........i do not see why they should need to see your pay stub from previous jobs,.,,they have your application and they can call the places you worked if they want.........but i guess they can make up there own rules and do what they want..........

Looking for a job...?

when looking for a job is it ok to send your cv out to places that haven't actually stated they are in need of staff, if you see what i mean?? I'm looking for a job for january so i thought if i sent my cv to a couple of places now then if something came up they could let me know?hope that makes sense. Any advice,/ suggestions would be helpful thanks.
Looking for a job...?
Yes, it's recommended. Coz sometimes the employer is thinking of hiring but he haven't made his decision final. And your CV at that time makes his procrastination vanish and the ball is in your favor.

Good Luck
Reply:Somebody please hire me!
Reply:yes that is ok to send cv out. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!
Reply:I have years of experience with hiring people. It is perfectly fine to send what they call "unsolicited" resumes to a company. Since you are looking for a job in January I suggest making an investment in your future by getting a good interview skills book and role playing with a friend.

Looking for a job...?

I'm a hard-working high-school 16 y/o junior with a 4.6, perfect attendance, active at school, and hoping to still get a summer job somewhere in southern California. Probably won't be a able to work much into the school year, studies and sports will take up a lot of my time. Is it worth still looking for a job? What place might hire me at this point? I really would like a job, but I have begun to resign myself to the possiblity that I probably won't get one. Suggestions, etc. very welcome.
Looking for a job...?
I would suggest a part time job. That should be easy with your talent and experience. You seem to be a highly motivated person. But please don't ignore the value of a good education.

There are now online courses, which will enable you to get a degree in 2 years while you work. An education is a long-term investment. It will put you in good jobs. It will also give you a lot of self-respect. Money is not everything. There are learning years and earning years. It is generally not a good idea to prioritize work before education. It is like putting the cart before the horse.

Peace and blessings!
Reply:Think...when you're in CA, minimum is 8. 8 is more than anyone gets paid where I used to work in Kansas. They(all Cali employers) have a reluctance to hire teenagers because they are not as experienced, so their work is worth less, and so why pay them 8 when they could pay an illegal .5 or an 'affirmative action' black gay or disabled for the same price.
Reply:I started doing typing jobs in offices, schools. I was also a papergirl at your age. I had the premo "downtown" route and made good tips. I learned fast, to never go inside anyone's home for collection. Always, wait at their door. I got to enjoy walking and took a cart along on Sunday's (heavier paper).

Looking for a job?

been proven to be harder than it seems. Any suggestions and don't tell me to go to monster and post my resume online...been there done that. I'm still young and not that experienced just out of school.
Looking for a job?
Correct: Monster, Career Builder and other Job Sites are complete waste of time, I have not met a person to date who has gotten a Job through these sites.

Best Option: What are your friends doing? Contact your, Friends form College who graduated with you with same major or similar.

Find out where they are working, Contact those companies directly just drop in and talk to operations manager, do not try the HR Bullshit route, Operations Managers are always looking for new employees and they can help you with HR as well.

Good Luck!
Reply:Should start from small simple jobs like clerical assistant, sales person etc..
Reply:What kind of job do you want? Decide what field you want to work in, and research companies in that field and call them about employment! Now with the internet, you can find anything! You will have to start at the bottom, sucky pay, but, you get your foot in the door. Find something that interest you and find companies that fit that interest!

Good luck!
Reply:There are a lot of search engines and nifty ways to find jobs out there, but the old ways are still the best. Put together a good looking resume for the type of job you want. Even if you don't have a lot of work experience you can highlight the personal strengths you have that would make you look good to an employer. Dress nicely, take your new resume, and knock on every door to the businesses that have the position you are looking for. Always be nice to the person taking your resume. They decide if it gets to anyone important or thrown away.

Good luck!
Reply:Well, you're absolutely right. Finding a job is harder than it seems.. For starters make sure you have a resume.. Since you don't have any job experience put school activities, volunteering and any summer positions you may have had.. Also get together some references from family/friends/teachers/neighbors.. People that know you. Do you need a work permit? Get that as well or find out how you get one.. Dress nicely and hit the pavement.. Go INSIDE businesses and get applications.. Fill them out while you are there.. You will be likely to need the following school addresses, social security numbers and references names/telephone numbers and possibly addresses.. So, be prepared or it'll be a waste of time.. INSTEAD of filling out applications and leaving.. Ask to see/speak with a manager and ask them if they are hiring.. Get a card and keep for your records of where you applied IF you don't hear anything call them back. Most retail stores will be getting ready for Christmas and they will need extra seasonal help.... Also, check out snagajob.com they have lots of jobs posted there.. If you post a resume GREAT.. However, you can always go to the location and apply personally... Also, if you like to babysit check out craigslist and see if anyone is needed childcare in your area... It would also help if you took a general child/infant CPR/First Aid class.. Given usually by the local RED CROSS... Good luck
Reply:Look for career fairs in your area...they normally will advertise them in the paper or even on the radio. Im not sure what your trade is, but it doesn't hurt to scan the phone book and send your resume to company's not looking for someone. You never know if they will need someone just like you to join the team! Also, get the word out through your friends. Often they know of someone in the field you are looking to get into and will be of great benefit.

I want to learn more about business. What sort of job should i be looking for?

That's a little question for a big answer.

It depends on which part of a business you want to learn?

Do you want to learn more about corporate lfe? then get a job as an account manager in a corporate.

Do you want to learn how a business works? Get a job in a small business, any job thats fits your skills and be interested and learn all departments.

There is no quick answer I'm affraid
I want to learn more about business. What sort of job should i be looking for?
One good way to learn more about business is by starting your own! There are lots of people out there that offer business support like Business Link.

But it depends what type of area you are interested in. Do you want to run you own, or are you looking to expand you business knowledge with a view to working for other people.

Most universities also run free workshops for people interested in starting businesses, so this might be a good place to find advice.

Good luck :)

Is it easy to look for a job while in Dalian, China?

I am a Filipino, and will be moving to Dalian, China. My cousin will be coming along with me to look for a job there. He will be going there in a Tourist Visa, while I will have my working visa. Would it be easy for him to find a job there? What are the common jobs immediately available for office positions?
Is it easy to look for a job while in Dalian, China?
China's economy is booming right now so the answer is yes. Be careful and make sure to have your work visa on you at all times. Its just cautionary but it saved my ***. The police never search you but if you dont know a law (Like me) it will help you out. Apparently you CAN smoke inside hospitals in China so when I got mad at someone they called the police I showed them the visa apologized to the gentlemen I offended and everyone moved on.
Reply:It was easier before, now due to the Olympics the PSB (Security Bureau) is cracking down on tourists working and changing to Z visas. In Beijing many foreigners on tourist visas have been refused when trying to change their visas and have had to return to their home country to apply for a working visa.

Sorry, but it's the government wanting to keep tabs on foreigners in this period.

Working illegally is ok, but if he were caught he'd be fined, along with his employer and deported.

Looking for a job at young age.?
Culver's minimum hiring age is 14 with a workers permit.

I called many stores because I am 14 looking for a job. This was the response they gave which makes me happy after looking for so long.

Find a local one go online and apply and go in store to apply or call and ask if they are hiring.

What I did was Google a bunch of business near my home and found their numbers using Google maps or their sites and I called and directly asked if they are hiring and what age do they hire at.

Try local grocery stores, pizza parlors, retail stores, fast food restaurants.

Reply:"captkev156" (his question was apparently deleted)

says he lives here but that is unlikely. He may live elsewhere in Louisiana, and the rest of the state views NOLA the way upstate NY views NYC.

No one here calls our city "Nawlins", and New Orleans is certainly not the "...rape capital, robbery capital, cancer capital, stroke capital, most people on meth capital, worst place to be a waitress capital, hurricane capital....". We are not even in the "top 25": http://money.cnn.com/2006/10/30/real_est...

Murders have spiked since Katrina, but that is due to territorial competition among cocaine dealers - you don't have to worry about it unless you buy or sell crack here.

Hurricanes very rarely strike NOLA and the last one to hit us before Katrina was Betsy in 1965 (which did NOT flood the city-proper)

However, that does not mean life is easy in post-Katrina New Orleans. Salaries have improved since Katrina but costs (especially rent) have also gone up.

Almost every business in the city has a "Help Wanted" sign posted, but you do need to line-up a job before you come here. Also do some research and make sure you will be able to live on whatever you make.

You might first try applying directly to the large hotels that pay a salary and benefits in addition to whatever you make in tips. An example is the Omni Royal Orleans (504-529-5333).

Also consider other jobs - there are intense labor shortages in the retail, medical, and legal fields plus most trades.

Good luck!

Looking for a job?
Unfortunately, I have been unemployed before also. It now seems recessions keep coming more frequently and are deeper. I would suggest applying for a government job. They are more stable and will generally provide better retirement income and healthcare. I have a job, but the pace is very difficult to keep up because the company has poor systems. The most important thing to do is everyday work as hard as you can to apply to positions and try to develop can contacts as possible. Over time it all adds up. I also recommend refining your resume for each position. Generally what happens to me is many jobs offers come at about the same time. This is about the same time companies begin to hire. From thanksgiving to about February, there are very few opportunities.

Anyone can apply as long as you're permitted to work in the US. Legal immigrants are also welcome. There are great opportunities for stay at home moms %26amp; dads, students are welcome!

What's good about them is they research and find legitimate jobs and they're not affiliated with the companies they refer. No commissions, benefits or incentives from the companies. Not a bunch of banners on the site, they do a really good service for the work from home community.

Where else can I look for a job?
try some of the job sites -

Monster.com

careerbuilder.com

they have pt listings in there if you do an 'advanced' search
Reply:it depends...what type of J-O-B are you looking for? Do you want to work for someone that tells you when to be there, when you can go home, etc. or do you like the freedom of making your own decisions? if it's the latter, start looking into having your own business. it's easier than one thinks..and it doesn't have to cost much to start one either. Just get a mentor, find a company to align with and get started. You can have a 'summer' income that will keep going throughout the rest of the year and beyond if you follow the system.

Good luck!

How do I look for another job, while I'm still working at the job that I'm at?
Schedule all interviews for first thing in the morning or last thing in the afternoon. Ask the hiring manager if they would consider interviewing you on the weekend or at night.

NEVER wear interview clothes to the office, even if it means changing at McDonalds.

And do NOT put your current company's name on your resume (especially if you post it online). Make your resume the same as now just remove the company name and put "Confidential Company" in its place.

Good luck.
Reply:Your boss doesn't need to know until you think they might be called for a reference.

Just to be sure your current employer isn't contacted, instead of your current employers name just put the type of business it is on your resume, like "Tile Store" instead of "Gallery of Tile and Stone" and give the city but not the address. Most prospective employers will understand if you ask them to not contact your current employer until you've had a chance to talk to them. By the time they're asking for your references, it means they want you.

Also, many states have organzations connected to the state unemployment offices that have classes and can give advice on job searches, you may want to see if there is an organization in your area that you can go to for advice.

Good luck!
Reply:Most companies that you interview with understand that you can't always let your current employer know that you are looking for another job. They will not contact them about your current employment until after they have hired you. Some will even schedule an interview time outside of regular work hours if they are interested enough. Otherwise you will have to try to schedule interviews during a time that you can leave for lunch.
Reply:go to www.prepaidlegal.com/hub/rhackermanjr and scroll down until you come to Russ Ackerman and click on the link. send him an email and let him know that i sent you. you can start your own home business and he will never know, that is, until you quit. good luck. tammy dunn
Reply:Go and find the job of your dreams. Do not let your boss get in the way. You have to do what is best for you and if your boss finds out oh well. Here in Ohio, grocery stores start hiring cashiers, baggers, and cart collectors at the age of 14. Good luck!
Reply:Culver's minimum hiring age is 14 with a workers permit.

Hi, I Believe I can assist you in your matter. Revolution money exchange is currently hiring for the summer .Currently I鈥檓 attending college to pursue a degree in Animation /Multimedia (Visual Communications). I must say the company is really helping me get through college. Revolution Money exchange is a new payment network that provides merchants and financial institutions with a new method of payment .Revolution money exchange is similar to PayPal but without the Fee. Revolution Money is based in St. Petersburg, FL and is part of the family of companies within Revolution, LLC. The company pays its members $10 per hour just to refer people to the company and also gives you a FREE $25 after joining. This is 100% FREE and the earning potential is unlimited. The company pays Via, Check and PayPal. Also you can request you payment when you want. Great Summer Job!!

To join go to:

https://www.revolutionmoneyexchange.com/...
Reply:You can try earning some extra cash using "Get Paid To" websites.

The one I'm a member of is free to join and use and basically what you do is fill out free surveys and offers. The pay around $.25-5.00+ depending on which one you do, and each survey and offer takes 5mins or less to complete. There are hundreds of them to do and they add more all the time as well.

The minimum payout for the site is $10, this is easibly reachable within the first couple hours of so in participating in the website. On average people probably earn around an extra $50-100 a month. However, there are a lot of people on the site that do make over $1000+ a month. The site also holds contests every month with great rewards. There is an awesome contest going on for the month of July for whoever makes the most money in offers wins $100 =)

If you'd like to see proof of payments and read more about the site you can visit my website.

Looking for work at home REAL job?

Does anyone know of any REAL work from home jobs? I have searched and all I seem to find is "send money for work at home jobs". So many scams I guess there are really none out there. Any suggestions?
Looking for work at home REAL job?
I've never been able to find a work from home job like data entry or online surveys which allowed me to make a real income.

But this is what I do - I usually buy 200 items on ebay for 1cent each every week, all these items are sold with free postage worldwide. So if you just buy 5 items, total cost to you in just 5cent.

These ipod covers, cables etc are shipped from Hong Kong and China, but once they're delivered, you can then resell them yourself on ebay for $1 to $2 to people in your own country.

My blog shows how to find these 1cent items on ebay, using the advanced search. There's no need to spend more than 5c per item as there's thousands of items listed like this, so if you get outbid on one auction, just wait a few minutes until the next auction is ended.

http://ebay-income-jobs.blogspot.com/

Let me know if you have any questions about this.
Reply:What do you enjoy doing? I've found that if you're doing something fun and that you enjoy then it makes it so much more worth it. If you're doing home parties then it's going to show if you don't believe in what you do.

I'm a consultant for Scentsy and I love it! I believe in the product because it is safe. It's safe for my family and safe for the environment, becuase they do not use flames. I'm having a great time with it and find that because other people like the product, it sells really easy...and I am NOT a salesperson! :)

Feel free to email me through my profile if you'd like more info on Scentsy candle warmers.

Do your research, ask lots of questions, and be careful. There are a lot of scams out there and it's easy to fall prey. Good luck to you!!

i am 14, 15 in may and im looking for a job? in stay near kilmarnock but anywhere in ayrshire will be finee :) help please????
Looking for a job, under 16?
Hi,have you tried to get a paper round or baby sit.You could also ask people if they would like there gardens cut.You will need to decide how much to charge %26amp; tell them before you cut the grass.

Good Luck
Reply:Let me see:

Most restaurants will hire bus persons under 16,

Grocery stocker or bagger,

Of course volunteers are needed at any charitable organization. A food bank/pantry would be a good choice (plus volunteer work looks good when you start college interviews).

A candystriper at a hospital.

Most libraries will hire at 14 or older to reshelve books.

A pet shop/store, feeding and taking care of the animals.

Also, if you have a good lawnmower and trimmer, you could start your own lawn business.

A lot depends on if you have references from people who can vouch that you are a trustworthy, dependable person ~ that will hold a lot of weight with employers.
Reply:You might want to think about starting a cleaning business. Offer your services to home owners, businesses, bachelors that are pigs, anyone that likes a clean home or business. You could make more money doing this than you could working at a food joint or clothing store. The idea is to not work too cheap but do a good job for your customers and get as many as you can. If it takes you 2 hours to clean a kitchen from top to bottom and you did about 5 kitchens a week, you would have more quid than any store is every going to pay you. Best of Luck to you....you already have a desire to work and have your own money and I think your awesome for wanting to act mature!
Reply:Almost ever job requires you to be 18 yrs and up. There's a few places you can be 16 but never under that. If so then its because its under the books. If you have family that owns businesses ask them to hire you or if you have friends that have parents or relatives that owns a business ask them to see if they can possibly hire you. Just ask around and keep looking. Good Luck!
Reply:because of your age , it's tricky.. by law your only allowed to work a certain number of hours.. also the company / person has to provide liability insurance, incase you had an accident etc.

you could do the usual things, like paper round, washing cars , bit of gardening etc.

shops won't take you on till your 16 probably. I got a job when I was 15 at a shop..but times are changed.
Reply:no one will hire anybody that is under 16 unless they have permission from there folks, if i was you i would wait a couple years before you look for a job, my guess is that you are still in school, stay in school first then we will talk about future jobs, just to let you know the income

Im 16, finished year 10, been looking for a job for a year now in all areas, why wont someone hire me.?

As you read above, im 16, just finished year 10, forced myself through it, knowing of all my issues with family school etc. and for a year now, I have been applying for jobs everywhere, I want to know why nobody wants to hire me, or how i can get a job, I am currently doing three different courses at tafe, so i can get a job but no-one still wants me, I dont even get an interview i get the sorry you have been rejected email.

please help.
Im 16, finished year 10, been looking for a job for a year now in all areas, why wont someone hire me.?
OK you don't get an interview so you need to look at your CV again and see if it can be improved on. Are your realistically looking for jobs that you qualify for or are you putting you sights too high at present.

Also don't take it personally either - there are a lot of people loosing their jobs at present because the economic climate is so bad.

Try going to the job centre. They are really helpful. Not only can they help you find a job but can offer you courses to improve your skills and may also be able to help with your CV. Congratulations by the way at being a responsible young person willing to get out their and work. The right job is there waiting for you I can promise you that. So don't despair and keep on knocking on them doors til one opens. Good Luck
Reply:"Mr Wizard" i just finished year 10 as well, and i have been working as a waiter earning 20 an hour for over 6 months now, so don't say she cant get a job just because shes young

You can get a job, just not at high company's etc, you'll have to start down low, like at McDonalds or some other fast food restaurant like that

By the sounds of it your studying for a particular thing, which you haven't mentioned here, but what you should do is stay with this fast food job or whatever until you have finished your study in what you are doing, and then apply for a job in that industry

And lastly, for my job, i didn't even have to go for an interview or anything they just hired me, look around and trust me you will find a job somewhere

Hope this helps
Reply:what kind of jobs are you applying for?

seeing as you don't get to the interview stage your weakness would be your resume and application letter.

I suggest you take up a course to learn how to write a very good resume. Go to a bookstore and look for a book called the Idiots Guide to a Perfect Resume or Idiots Guide to a Perfect Career.

You also need to look at what you want to be. 16 is young so make sure your level of education would suit the type of career you are aiming for.

That would be your problem right there.

Continue on with your education and more prospects will open up.

THANK YOU !!!
Looking for a job at 15.?
Honestly your best option is something in the food area, not too many people want to hire a 15 year old to work with people or customer service. so check pizzerias and such
Reply:How about babysitter?. Not necessary for babies, you can start with school age kids.

Does anyone know of any ligitimate company that has a work from home program? I am looking for a work @ job.?

Most people who work at home and are successful are doing one of two things - getting paid a commission on everyone they convince to join the program (also known as MLM or pyramid plans) OR they have their own business. Your own business is something you create yourself, not find on the internet. You create it based on your skills, your passions not on what someone else tells you is the GREATEST thing going.

If you are looking at one of the endless "opportunities" out there be careful - most are scams. Here are a few questions you should ask to help figure out if the one you are looking at is for real or not.

Legitimate work-at-home program should tell you - in writing - what's involved in the program they are selling. Here are some questions you might ask:

* What tasks will I have to perform? (Ask the program to list every step of the job.)

* Will I be paid a salary or will my pay be based on commission?

* Who will pay me?

* When will I get my first paycheck?

* What is the total cost of the work-at-home program, including supplies, equipment and membership fees?

* What will I get for my money?
Does anyone know of any ligitimate company that has a work from home program? I am looking for a work @ job.?
Wow... that question is going to leave you wide open to get responses from every MLM company, business oportunity, and more!!!

If your looking for your own business then I highly recommend Prepaid Legal Services. http://www.prepaidlegal.com

If you are looking for more of a job type thing but want to control your schedule and work at home I recommend LiveOps. http://www.liveops.com

Good luck.
Reply:You have two options. If you would like to work for a company you should look into companies that have telecommuting customer service positions. The new trend is companies are not placing all of there customer service reps in a box or cube but forwarding calls so associates have beeter hours and variety.

Second, depending on your skills, interest and investment options I have several proven franchise opportunities that could fit your needs. My consulting services are free and there is never a pressure to buy. We focus on customer relations and finding the right opportunity for the right person to be successful. Get a job at the mall.

Call law firms and see if they can use copy aids or bike couriers.
Reply:It's hard to get a decent job when you are under 18, and in some cases, 21. You could start off in retail. Filling out applications at your local shopping mall is a good idea. You could work at a grocery store... you would probably be stocking. If you are looking for something that pays a bit more, then I would look in the help wanted ads, and look for something in an office that you have the skills to do. A lot of times you can find something where they just need a body to sit in the chair and do some computer work or data entry for like $10-14 an hour.
Reply:I have found several legitimate work at home sites so far, and one of them made me $494+ in October, $700+ in November, and $838.57 in December. They are free to join.

Please click my screen name or avatar for more information and a link for proof of payment.

And by the way--never join a work at home program that wants you to pay up front. If they were making that much money, they wouldn't need to charge you.

Looking for a job.finally thought of this being an effective source.i hope someone will help?

I would check out all the major job sites such as monster and careerbuilders. One of my favorite sites is indeed.com because they pull from a lot of job boards. Try using different key words as it will make a difference in what jobs will be pulled up. Also I've had bad luck with people receiving my resume so I always apply directly to the company and if through email I always get a read request so I know that it was indeed seen. Also if you know the position that you are looking for do searches on google and yahoo. It will sometimes pull up opportunities or sometimes resumes and other documents you can use to better your search.
Looking for a job.finally thought of this being an effective source.i hope someone will help?
Have you thought about working at home over the Internet? Do you have an Internet connection and some basic typing skills?

There are many companies that need people from home to do things such as write for discussion boards, write articles for websites, manage Google Adwords campaigns, medical billing, etc.

Do a Google search for some of these. Or go to a site such as http://www.data-entry-jobs.net , where they have free access to all these types of jobs.

Good luck in your hunt.

Looking for a job.. in Vancouver?
The only way you are going to be able to find work under the table is to get connected with the Spanish/Mexican community in Vancouver. Meet some people and tell them what you are looking for and I am sure someone could help you in your situation.

Other than that you could take on some babysitting jobs that pay cash. Look on Craigslist as I see many nanny/babysitting positions in different areas in the city.

My son is 14 and i'm looking for a summer job for him possible in or near bellwood illinois?

if he really wants a job, you can try calling the guidance counselour at his school. there is a such a thing as a summer job, one that he can only work at for the summer. its a great opportunity for him to learn some responsibilty. plus, with a summer job, if he's good enough, he can get part-time during the school year. (there are also internships available which can lead to proper placement later)

Looking for a job in film...?

At the moment, I am currently looking for a job in film. I will be attending film school in June of 2010. Anyone have any openings or know of any companies that I should look at?
Looking for a job in film...?
You have a long way to go before you should be looking for a job.

The "industry" is very volatile and you shouldn't possibly look at anything in terms of employment in film/entertainment that far in the future.

Make sure you pick a good place to do an internship at when you are in school. Pick a place that will expose you to as many contacts as possible.

Depending upon what school you are going to, you will more than likely have to start out as a Production Assistant unless you're going to a school like AFI.
Reply:Not if you have no qualifications or experience. You'll need a fair amount of luck too because everyone wants to be in the film industry so you've got the whole world to compete with.
Reply:Well, Pixar definitely should be one of your picks. These days, It's very hard to get a job in film/directing areas of studies. Blame those people who make the terrible worthless movies.
Reply:work for yourself, some of the most successful people in film started that way.
Reply:eb games, but if you work with james trust me he'll be the star of the show....

I'm looking for A home based job in IL Any help out there?

I'm In Mattoon IL And looking for work from home not a bussiness, are there any jobs like that here?
I'm looking for A home based job in IL Any help out there?

* Who will pay me?

* When will I get my first paycheck?

* What is the total cost of the work-at-home program, including supplies, equipment and membership fees?

* What will I get for my money?

Looking for a job?

i'm 23 and i need a job . i have three kids that i need to support. i've work in retail before and would love to work sercurity, ups valet, or any place that''s hiring.
Looking for a job?
Ditto on UPS. It's a Teamster shop, and they staff up a lot for the holiday rush and pay pretty well, though it's hard work. If you can impress the bosses with your reliability and diligence, and can get on year round, you're set, because you'll also get good health care and retirement benefits.

You should be trying to get a job with a big firm, or the government, because with three kids, you need health care coverage and some stability. For the same reason, check out USPS (the Post Office), your local city government, and local and state offices. If you can get hired there, you can make a decent living with excellent benefits.

Your first option shouldn't be retail, because that's mostly seasonal, doesn't offer benefits, and has a very big ratio of part time and short term low paid entry level to real full time management positions. You need to see if you can get a living wage, with stability, not just a teenager's pay-off-the-car wage.

You might see if you can take the qualifying test for the police department, too, since you're young, though they might require college credits or even a degree in some places. If you're a minority, or a woman in the case of some places like the police, even if you think you're not quite qualified, you might have a better shot than you think at some slots at big organizations that are trying to raise their minority representation.

Remember, you're heading into the Christmas rush season, so if you need to do retail, be optimistic at least in the short term. You should be able to find a place at Target or some other place that'll need extra warm friendly bodies for the Christmas rush, at the very least, but those jobs won't pay too well and won't last past the second week of January unless you realllly impress the boss.

Also, since it looks like we're heading into at least a mild recession, collections is always a growth industry in tough times. Since it's so emotionally wearing, they have a lot of turnover.

I'm looking for a job at 14...?
Work rules really limit your hours and what you can do. Most places won't hire at 14 because your hours are too limited.

No worker under 18 may:

Operate a forklift at any time.

Operate many types of powered equipment like a circular saw, box crusher, meat slicer, or bakery machine.

Work in wrecking, demolition, excavation, or roofing.

Work in mining, logging, or a sawmill.

Work in meat-packing or slaughtering.

Work where there is exposure to radiation.

Work where explosives are manufactured or stored.

Recent changes in the law state that minors under 17 may not drive a motor vehicle; 17-year-olds may drive occasionally, if they meet certain requirements.

Also, no one 14- or 15-years-old may:

Bake or cook on the job (except at a serving counter).

Operate power-driven machinery (except certain types that pose little hazard such as those used in offices).

Work on a ladder or scaffold.

Work in warehouses.

Work in construction, building, or manufacturing.

Load or unload a truck, railroad car, or conveyor. Federal Child Labor Laws also have guidelines for the hours that a teenager may work.

For young workers between the ages of 14 and 15, work hours are as follows:

Not before 7 a.m. or after 7 p.m. between Labor Day and June 1 and not after 9 p.m. between June 1 and Labor Day.

Not during school hours

-maximum hours when school is in session are as follows:

18 hours a week, but not over:

3 hours a day on school days

8 hours a day Saturday, Sunday, and holidays

these are the federal laws most state laws are very similar

never before 7am

3 hours a day after school and before 7pm

no more then 18 hours per week

no more then 8 hours on Saturday

no more then 6 days a week

the laws apply to those under 16 regardless of if you are in public school, private school, home-schooled or not in any school, you can not work during normal school hours.

when school is out you can work:

7am -9pm

no more then 40 hours per week

Reply:have fun finding someone who will hire you if you can't even spell canada. because there is so much competition out there, you need to have qualifications that would surpass anyone else who is a canadian citizen in canada who would be qualified for that type of job as well. why should companies hire you if you can't spell canada correctly, over someone who is a canadian citizen who has the formal education and/or equivalent experience. it costs companies to pay for your work permit, so unless you have some kind of formal education or a hell of a lot of experience, and if canada is in demand for that type of job, then you won't have much luck trying to get a company in canada to sponsor you for a work permit. There are tons of new college/university grads right now that are from overseas and they probably have a lot better chance than you to get a company to sponsor them and hire them...

WelI I actually take surveys for cash. And yes they do pay as long as you know the good ones. I have some free survey sites that are very reliable just check out my profile by clicking my name or email me for them. I only give sites that I've been paid by so you won't get scammed. They're all reliable and I've never had a problem with them. (I've been doing them for a year now) The best part is that anyone can do them and they're easy. You won't get rich but they definitely help with bills :)

I can't believe you're posting your job quest here. Maybe one of the thousands of teens who want homework help will hire you to manage their homework.

Post your resume on a legitimate job search site, like Yahoo Hot Jobs or Monster.com.

Capitalize the first letter of each sentence, use proper punctuation and spell "a lot" correctly as TWO words and you might have a better chance at impressing someone enough to hire you.
Reply:CashCrate is a great site to make money on if you live in the USA (or Canada). I made $494+ in February. But it did take a bit of work initially--I added referrals--and the money got better. And I believe my earnings will continue to grow. I started by answering surveys on CashCrate and filling out some free offers and received a real check from them. For example, I signed up for E-bay and made a bid and got paid $8.00. And there are no fees to join. It is totally free. So I made a little my first month with them.

But once I found out this site was legit, I started adding referrals. For every person you refer, you get 20% of what they earn. And for every person that one of your referrals refer to CashCrate, you get 10%. It may take some time to build up the number of referrals necessary to make a lot of money, but in time--this could be a great source of income--making money while other people are in a sense, working for you. And by the way--never join a work at home program that wants you to pay up front. If they were making that much money, they wouldn't need to charge you. Note: There are not many offers on this site for users outside of the USA (there quite a few offers for Canadian users though). But if you are in another country, you could still refer users from the USA to CashCrate and make money on those referrals. -

I'm looking for a job?

was wondering if it was still better going to the store and dressing nicely ,even though most places seem to have computer kiosks for putting in application's and rarely have a HR office to do so ,any insight would be appreiated ....Thanks Nick
I'm looking for a job?
Definately go to the store and dress nice.

I'm not sure which type of store you are applying to, but even the stores with the kiosks like walmart and target will give you paper applications. Also you never know who you might run into. If you happen to run into the hiring manager and make a good impression that just helps even more.

As a former store manager, I can't stress to you how important it is to show that you take the job seriously. Most people have no idea how much work retail is and come in and apply looking sloppy. Those applicants that came in looking ready to interview when picking up an application or dropping them off are the ones we want to work for us. Many times in my career, I would grant on the spot intervies to people bringing me an application who were dressed nicely and looked like they were ready to work! My best people came to me that way.

Doing a little rersearch beforehand on the company you are interested in always helps as well. If you know who the store manager is, what the hours are, and what positions they have to fill -it shows that you are interested in the company.

Before you go in to appy, call the store and find out if they are hiring, what positions they have to fill, who you should talk to, and if they have set interview times. make sure to identify yourself by name and let them know when you will be in. Being professional on the phone and getting your name out to as many people as possible helps keep you at the top of the list.

If you are able to fill out a paper application. Don't just turn it in to anyone, ask for the hiring manager or the manager on duty. This gets your ap to the top of the pile fast instead of in a pile next to a register for them to pick up at the end of the day.

When they accept your application, ask when you can expect to hear back from them. This makes that person just a little more accountable to you and shows your continuing interest. If they tell you that you will hear from them on such and such day or you should call them back. Make sure you call that day. Many managers use this as a test of reliability.

After handing in an application and speaking to someone in person, shake their hand and thank them for their time. Leave them with a positive impression of you.

Some of my favorite employees were those who were most persistent and followed up. If you don't get to hand your ap in to a manager, find out who is in charge of hiring when you turn it in, and call them the next day to ensure they received it. If you haven't heard from them in 7 days, call again and ask about the status of your application. They should be cble to tell you if you are being considered for the job. If they tell you that you don't have what they are looking for, ask what you need to be considered.

Best of luck to you!
Reply:well i do know that dressing nicely will NOT hurt you as much as underdressing!

so dress up be professional!

good luck
