it`s rather late in the season so you might stand a

better chance on one of the less `fashionable` islands.

good luck, you will still have a fabulous time!

How do I find a job to do in my home thats not a gimmick. Im looking for ruputable honest work.?

I have joined an online work from home business that is free and open to people worldwide. It is also registered with the Better Business Bureau. It's not a get rich scheme either. I don't want to break any of the yahoo rules by posting it, so anybody that wants the website, feel free to contact me and you can check it out for yourself.
How do I find a job to do in my home thats not a gimmick. Im looking for ruputable honest work.?
Depending on your background, you could consider medical transcription, coding or billing. I was a medical transcriptionist working from home.

Many transcriptionists get their training through a course of study while others carry their medical terminology knowledge with them from other health related fields. You would need to get the terminology down, and then get started. Many companies want experience so there's a catch-22. However, doctors and hospitals may be hiring, and after a time you can work from home as many transcriptionists do.

There's some excellent information for anyone considering a career in this field in the website listed below. No affiliation with any school or products, just good info, including real job listings.
Reply:The biggest problem with a home based job is exactly what it says it is a job, but is more likely to be low paid and with no certainty of continuous employment, with those uncertainties and the tax disadvantages I could never recommend a home based job.

If however you wish to create an income from home, then a home based business is ideal. The biggest advantages are working hours that you can set to suit yourself, the opportunity to leverage time through the efforts of others, and significant tax advantages.

There are hundreds of possible businesses, but a business requires some capital to start up so I would recommend looking for one that requires less than $500 to start, but remember it is your business and it will only be successful if you are prepared to put some amount of continuous effort into it. It will take some time to build and get an income flowing, so I would study all opportunities very closely and see if your choice has any bonus schemes which can act as cash flow as the main income stream grows.

With most businesses it will take 2-4 weeks before the first income may be received, but that is normal, in fact most home based jobs will only pay monthly. But with a business the income should increase quickly as the weeks progress, in fact it is possible to be earning a significant extra income within 6 months and be financially free in 2-4 years.

Some 9 years ago I got involved with a company in the second largest industry in the world 鈥?Telecommunications. What impressed me with this company was the attitude of the owners, they were already in a position where they could have retired, but they decided that they had a company that could grow and help very many people throughout the world to realise their financial dreams.

This company now operates in 19 countries on 3 continents and expects to be opening up another 50 countries over the next few years. They have been featured in many publications like USA Today, Success from Home Magazine (twice), Fortune, and Inc 500 rated then the 22nd fastest growing company in the USA after their first 5 years, not only that but the 2nd most profitable.

Recently the multi-billionaire Donald Trump endorsed the opportunity, calling it probably the best available in the world today.

The services the company offers are local and long distance calling, Internet, Digital, Voip with video phones, Satellite TV and cell phone services with all the major cell phone providers. Now everybody knows plenty of other people who use these services in their homes every day, and this opportunity allows you to save people money on these services, but at the same time it allows you to earn a percentage of the monthly billing of all the people, who are saving money on the services you recommended, now you have created a residual based income, you get paid every month for as long as the customer continues to use the service. This can be a very profitable business as the industry turns over approximately one Trillion dollars annually.

Now just a little bit of information about myself, I am nearly 62 and spent most of my working life in traditional manufacturing companies at Director level, so I know a bit about business. What I have discovered in the last few years, I wish I had known about when I left college. It has taken me over 30 years to discover a business that I can honestly recommend to anybody, although they will have to have drive and determination to succeed.

If you would like any more information feel free to email me.

Reply:1. WelI I actually take surveys for cash. And yes they do pay as long as you know the good ones. I have some free survey sites that are very reliable just check out my profile by clicking my name or email me for them. I only give sites that I've been paid by so you won't get scammed. They're all reliable and I've never had a problem with them. (I've been doing them for a year now) The best part is that anyone can do them and they're easy. You won't get rich but they definitely help with bills :)

2. Btw a lot of the ones above are spammers and I wouldn't trust them
Reply:Well to tell you the truth almost every home business out there is out to take your money besides one. That's Ebay. If you are like many other people you think Ebay is only capable of making you a little extra pocket change. Well that were you're wrong. EBay have people called power sellers. If you become a powerseller you'll make about 150,000 a month. The best system to teach you how to do this is sky high auction. I use it and right now im making bout 2000 a month.

Im looking for a job.?

im looking for a job..

not a fast food restaurant, not a online home job, or a super market but someplace decent enough for a teen ager.

im 16. any suggestions?

thanks alot!
Im looking for a job.?
Here's a short list of jobs which you can create to generate income:

1. Learn calligraphy so that you can provide handwritten invitations and thank you notes to prospective wedding parties, birthday celebrations, etc. Seek out clients through wedding planners at nearby churches and temples. A starter calligraphy kit usually runs around $20 and anyone can easily pick up this skill. The going rate is usually $1 per hand addressed item.

2. Become a "poser" who assists wedding photographers in setting and arranging various individuals in group and single photographic positions. "Posers" carry around a sketch book of various sitting and standing poses which consists of onion skin overlays of various wedding pictures bound in albums. Again, contact local wedding photographers and wedding planners, accordingly. The hourly pay is around $10-$12 per hour and you are often invited to attend all dining activities.

3. Seek from your neighbors a gardner position which involves planting, weed removal, plant/tree trimming, light brush clearance. You will be using the neighbor's equipment and tools. Again, do not represent yourself as a lawn mower since there are any number of safety issues involved. A door-to-door solicitation of surrounding neighbors is required and you can charge between $6 to $9 per hour.

4. Offer policing/removal or clearance of trash services to surrounding neighbors which involve trash pickup within nearby residential area. Limit the extent of pickup to small areas and be aware that there are no hazardous terrain or elements involved in this process. Again, a door-to-door solicitation of neighbors is in order. You can charge between $6.75 to $7.50 per hour.

5. Acquire a set of window cleaning tools [a bucket, liquid window cleaner, sponge, squeegee, handle with an extension and a small step ladder] and solicit local businesses for your window cleaning services. However, be careful to limit the height of the window cleaning to no higher than one story. Charge $1 per window panel.

6. Become a proxy/stand-in for neighbors to allow delivery of goods and packages to your home/apartment. Acquire the authority to sign any receipt of incoming packages as an accepting neighbor. Charge $1 per each package handled by you.

7. Consider becoming a restaurant-cafe customer liaison by using your cell phone at restaurants-cafes to coordinate with the hostess to keep track of waiting customers. Whenever there's a very long period of time to activate a waiting list, you want to offer the restaurant your services so that customers do not have to stand around for any lengthy period of time. And when their name/assigned number comes up; you can call the upcoming customer's cell phone to tell them that they can return to the restaurant and be served. The call back fee is usually around $0.50 cents on a per head basis. For example, a couple would be charged $1.00 while children under 6 would not be charged. Placement of a plaque which outlines your fee schedule near the hostess station is sufficient to garner attention of prospective customers who will value your services since they can do other activities outside of the restaurant -- often beyond the range of any inhouse paging system. You realize that everyone has a cellphone and why not take advantage of the connectivity to make the diner's experience worthwhile. The restaurant will also appreciate the added service you are providing as a customer liaison.

8. Why not become a paid feeder servicing the disabled at nearby nursing, convalescent, assisted living/care centers and hospitals. It involves feeding food to patients who are unable to feed themselves. The starting rate is $8.00 per hour. The only downside is that one has to take precautions to wash one's hands after each feeding. A posting of your services [by a business card or flyer] on a reviewable bulletin board would be enough to generate customers. The paid feeder position is one of the fastest growing occupation at this time.

Good luck!

Where can I find a good looking but affordable women's suit for a job interview?

I need a suit to get a job to pay for the suit I will probably never wear again. Go figure. There are no Burlington Coat Factories around here. Not that the last one I perused even had any women's suits. I've been looking at Target and Kohls online but I'm not going to waste the gas climbing the mountains around here if these "career separates" will not pass as a suit together. Why are there always men's suit sections, but NEVER ANY WOMEN'S?????? There are men's suits links, but for women it's called other things, or doesn't exist. Blargh! Is it worth it to pursue these career separates and hope that they are just suits but sold as separate pieces (the pants and matching jacket are on different racks from eachother?). I cannot tell from looking online. Anyone know anything? Does anywhere sell women's suits?? There is Target, Kohls, JC Penny, Sears, Bonton, and I actually think that is it for the stores out here. Any wisdom is appreciated.
Where can I find a good looking but affordable women's suit for a job interview?
You could try here..

http://www.jcpenney.com/products/C051323...

Here is a suit for 50 dollars

http://www.metrostyle.com/clothing/Pinst...

And several suits here

http://www.overstock.com/Apparel/Suits/2...

And you can try this site for VERY affordable items of clothing

http://www.classiccloseouts.com

Hope I helped =]
Reply:Pennys.
Reply:JC Pennys is a great place. You can buy the pieces seperatly if you want and they always seem to have a sale going on. Recently, my mom bought a pair of slacks for about $25 and a nice shell top to go under the blazar for $15.
Reply:I've seen some really nice suits at Goodwill for under $15. The only problem for me was that they were too small. Also, try consignment shops. They usualy have nicer, newer style clothes that are supposed to be cheaper than regular stores. (Last year a lawyer freind who is taller than my six feet gave me a bunch of her old work clothes that she didn't think she would fit into again. This included a gray pin striped pants suit, a navy blue suit with pants and a skirt, a black suit with both pants and skirt, and a gray suit with both pants and skirt. Ironically, I was a housewife at the time, and now, pregnant with our first child, I'll be staying home for awhile. Eh. At least I have nice suits for Sunday morning.)

Do you need a full fleged suit? Could something like a skirt and a coordinating jacket (like a gray skirt with a black jacket) work? It may not be the best, perhaps, but it's better than nothing. Besides, even if you're just interviewing at McDonald's and go in with something like that, you will score points. (Although if I were interviewing at Wal-Mart or Target, I would wear a full skirt suit, unless it's a really cold day in winter, then I would go with the pants.)

Anyway, I hope this helps.
Reply:A Nordstrom Rack store...75 % off
Reply:Target is actually great for putting together separates for a suit or an outfit. If you are not ordering it on-line I would suggest that you call the Target store ahead of time to ensure they have you desired items in stock. And if you are ordering on-line at Target.com pay attention to the material and color listed, try to stick with the same brand for each separate, and I would suggest that you get the separates in Black, because there's almost a guaranteed that the separates will match together. Even if only from afar.

Plus every woman should have a black blazer, black pants, and/or black pencil skirt in their wardrobe. Good Luck!
Reply:I bought a really nice 2 piece dress suit at Kohl's for under $30 in the Juniors dept. and I have seen some nice suits at Sears and JC Penny's. I am not sure if you are looking for misses, juniors, women's sizes but you usually find the nicer matching suit sets in the women's dept. You may have to actually go check it out at the store its just not the same looking on-line. The plus side is you can search the clearance racks for the best prices. If you want women's clothes JC Penny's and Sears are best. If you want a younger looking or Junior/Misses then Kohl's and Target are best. Hope that helps. Have fun shopping and good luck on your interview.
Reply:Relax, just look in your mother's closet, and "hash" something together.

You'll look fine, and you'll get the credit for looking "classic, chic, and supreme",

like you're on top of all things!

Does GPA count when you look for a job after graduating? If it does how muchs good enough?

To be specific, im in Finance going towards a Bachelors degree. (let me know about USA and Canada or any one U can)
Does GPA count when you look for a job after graduating? If it does how muchs good enough?
Yes, GPA matters a lot. It is a way for employers to know what kind of person you are, how intelligent you are, and how dedicated you are. Graduating Cumma Sum Laude with 3.95 will impress 10x more than passing through college with a 2.8.

For an average job, anything about a 3.0 is acceptable.

But if you are looking for major financial firms like Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, UBS, Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch. You will not get a job unless you are top of your class, with 3.85+ GPA, top 10 business school.

I am 13 looking for a reasonable job in toronto. Particularly maybe a toystore.?
No you need to be 14, but you can be a soccer referee, it's legal, like me I started when I was 12 it's a resonable pay like for 7-8 years old you get about 12$-20$ it's pretty good deal for one hour!
Reply:If you are old enough to want to play with the toys, then you probably won't get hired there. In the US you gotta be 16.
Reply:You'd have to be atleast 16 for major retailers. However independant toy stores (Top Banana, Treasure Island, Mastermind, Oink etc) may have different rules/government standards and maybe able to hire someone younger. I think fast food and grocer's have the youngest hiring age in ontario.

Here is the specifics for Toys R Us:

http://media.monster.ca/toysrus/q42007/f...
Reply:I thought you couldn't legally work until you were 14...
Reply:in canada u gotta wait til 14 but maybe you could geta job as a cart pusher at safeway at your current age
Reply:for such a young mind asking a question - you may be someone that do not need to work for a toystore, but make your own toystore to focus on.

being so young in age - you may not be able to apply and work for a company, but a good suggestion is to 1- speak to or email CEO of toy company to have you check things out. you are young - they will honor someone that shows interest.

Check out the book "Call your shots". he was a kid that emailed Donald Trump and from then on his life has changed.

2 - Look for small mom/pop store (small business) and see if they can put you on the payroll as a family member. They get tax relief having family member (particularly younger) work in the business.

hope this helps

I'm 17 and have been constantly looking for a job for a year!!?

Hi

I have been looking for a job for over a year now and i have given out over 900 C.VS. This is NO lie! I have applied online about 300 times and my C.V is posted on all english job sites! I have just finished college and i am a qualified Beauty therapist, i am also a model on the side. i have great key skills like ICT, reception duties and customer services. In my GCSES i got a B and 7 C'S. I also have got certificates in make-up and dermalogica (a beauty brand). So whats wrong with me. Ive had a professional look at my C.V and everything is fine and he said that i am applying for jobs well in my range! i dont get it. Does anybody have any advice im getting realy frustrated!
I'm 17 and have been constantly looking for a job for a year!!?
are you calling them back and asking about the status of your application? be really annoying/"persistant" and they may see that you seriously want the job

do you have any previous job experience?? even if it's something informal, or just from a past teacher, contact them and ask if they can write you a general letter of recommendation

use all the connections you have, friends and family, everyone, because for a lot of people, that's how they get their first job

good luck
Reply:Well, are you sure you're applying for jobs in your range? For instance, you have only GCSEs (and not very good ones at that) but have posted this in a section called Higher Education (University +). If you think your qualifications are at this level, I'm afraid you are sadly mistaken. Take another look at the level of jobs you are applying for - if they are for university level applicants you don't stand a chance, I'm afraid.

I am looking for a teaching job in NW Indiana, hows the job market there?

I actually am from Northwest Indiana. Lived there up until recently. I was told by everyone (college professors, elementary teachers, etc) that the job market for teachers in that area is AWFUL! I guess even the biggest school districts have decided to cut back on hiring. That is one of the reasons why I chose to hightail it out of there. I know a few people that have gotten jobs right away out of college- but most had to do subbing for 6 months to a year (or more!) before they found a teaching job.

That being said, I think the teaching job market isn't that great for much of Indiana. Good luck!
I am looking for a teaching job in NW Indiana, hows the job market there?
I've lived in Indiana my entire life and usually it is difficult to find a teaching job, because there are a surplus of teachers here. Unless you are a Math, Science, or Special Education teacher, you may have trouble. But, you never know, there could be some openings here. Good Luck :)

As long as the college gpa remains above 3.00 does it really matter when looking for a job?

Look at it this way,

When you get out of college, you don't have much to put on a resume. So how can an employer judge you? But after a few years no one cares about your gpa.

So, if you get a 4.0, sure flaunt it. But it doesn't really matter otherwise.
As long as the college gpa remains above 3.00 does it really matter when looking for a job?
It makes a difference for your first job.

The higher the GPA the better and the more $$ you will make. So if you GPA slips - it will be costing you salary dollars.
Reply:If you are already out of college, your GPA isn't going to matter nearly as much as your degree field matters.

If you are still in college, the GPA will make a great deal of difference as far as the college's job placement office is concerned. |They will place the highest GPA's in the best positions.

Whats the best way to look for a job as a recent green card immigrant from africa with a business degree?

i have done a little bit of marketing, and business management. I would however like to get into banking and/or asset management. I would like to learn on the job. I'm male, 26, well spoken (British Private School education) and would like to find out if there are any such companies that appreciate different types of applicants such as myself. Applicants such as myself are so eager to learn that often we become indespensable within a short period of time. "How can I get my foot in the door", so to speak? It seems to be rather challenging and any ideas would be highly appreciated. If you would like to learn more about me I'd be more than glad to mail you a resume for you to constructively criticize. Thanks!

I am looking for a summer job for 13 year olds. I need a job around Beaumont Cal.I need money to get a t.v.?
First of all why would you want a T.V? You can spend so much more time doing something with your life!

I spent 2 hrs. today just on the grass with my dog reading gaining knowladge, and interacting with my puppy!

You should go to the beach, take an out doors class!

I't summer!

Another thing you can do is take a class on economy, and finances to get REAL money in the future, instead of what they teach you in school, and start early!

BUT... If you really want a T.V:

Go to good will, flea markets, or rummage sales!

Ask your family if they need something done a car wash, clean up, yard work, etc...

If he's old enough he should check w/ a temporary agency. They'll find a job for him according to his skills, etc. He could look in the paper/Internet. There are jobs out there.

Try (Labor Ready) in Santa Rosa,Ca. it's on "Barham st." it's near the Rail Road Tracks not to far from Corby Avenue. Good Luck! Work today, get paid today. They are also Building a new Portion of the Free-way here in Santa Rosa.
Reply:Fast food and department stores are always the best places for someone who really wants a job to look.
Reply:Sounds like you've got yourself a winner there. 2 years and counting huh? Maybe he could find one by applying at places rather than have his girlfriend write to strangers on the internet asking as how he should go about getting a job.

I would bet that after 2 years of unemployment, and the fact that he isn't asking himself, your boyfriend doesn't realy want a job and is doing everything in his power to avoid getting one.

If you were smart, you would start taking applications for a new boyfriend.
Reply:Where do you live that he can't find a job??

There's jobs available EVERYWHERE if you're willing to take anything!

Is there something negative about him or his attitude thats causing employers not to hire him?
Reply:The best time to find a job is when you have a job. I hire people for the company that I work for and people look so much more attractive when they already have a job. Tell him to get job now to get some cash flow but to continue looking for that "right" job.
Reply:Try the Post Office. You need $100 to take a test, but you get it back if you don't get hired. If you do get hired, you get a decent job with good benefits. It's a job you can do anywhere in the US.

If you don't like that idea, UPS is also nation-wide and usually hiring.

Clothing, grocery stores, fast food or restaurants. Part-time shouldn't be hard to find. Go in, fill out an application and turn it in to the manager if s/he is there. Good luck!
Reply:Cleaning, kitchen work, packing, running errands, gardening, babysitting, newspaper delivery are some of the jobs available. These jobs will be posted in local newspapers and billboards. A better option is to work from home on your computer - write articles, sell on eBay, make a website, take surveys. In some cases, you may have to set up an account in your parents or guardians name, and ask them to pay you, after they get the money for your work. More details are available at http://kj9.info

Help!!! i'm looking for a job as a Dental Assistant but i think ive hit up every news paper and web site in CA
Locate the dentists in your area and start going in person and asking for applications and/or ask if you can leave your resume with them. If you have any temporary employment agencies (normally, temporary employment agencies will not charge you a fee to find you a job - at least in California) in your area, you may want to contact them and see if they know of any positions available. Alot of jobs through these agencies start out as temporary positions and then become full time, permanent positions. I found my last job through a temporary agency, and it became a full-time permanent position. Best of luck to you.

McDonalds, and some grocery stores hire 15 year olds.

I'm not sure about other fast food restaurants, you can check though.

A lot of restaurants will hire younger people for dishwashing, sometimes waitressing, busing, etc.
Reply:The first thing that you need to do is take personal responsibility for your own life choices and actions. No one is going to do that for you so you must do that for yourself.

Next, you're going to want to look at the fast food restaurants, the newspapers, the department stores. Get a good feel for what is out there and then send in your applications.

Above all, take personal responsibility for yourself.

I have been looking for a job? and they havent called me!?
I can tell you that being aggrssive can help but it also has drawbacks. From a human resources point of view, calling your interviewer will show him/her that you are interested in the position at hand. On the flip side, calling too much may lead to the impression that you are despereate. I would recommend calling at least every 3 days and ask if they have specified a time frame for which they have to a make a decision by. You don't want to keep waiting until they make up their minds, while you could find something else. The second website helps alot as saying the right thing is as important as your skills. If it has been 3 weeks, I can honestly tell you they may found another candidate. Still, leaving a good impression could result in them calling you when you least expect it.

Reply:Personally, I would wait a couple days then ask again. The next time you talk to them, however, try asking them if they have a certain time frame that they are looking to fill the position. Or you can try to set another time to "touch base" with him/her. This keeps communication alive and will remind you of them.

Unless they hire you on the spot, I would consider putting together a resume and sending it to other potential employers. Sites such as craigslist.com, monster.com, careerbuilder.com, etc can put you into contact with many eager employers. If you do not have much/any work experience, you might want to focus on your skills/qualifications or the classes you've taken that may help you with that specific job. In any case, good luck with your job search! :)
Reply:Yeah you sould keep on calling them. be consistent about it because employers like employees to be consistent. But keep on calling to let them know that you are intereted in the job.

Whats' the bet pay for a 15 year old looking for his first job.(melbourne)?

im 15 and looking for a job but i want a job with a good pay. ive applied at kmart and coles but i dont no the waiting period for an application. so ive decided to look for another job that gives me an excellent pay.
Whats' the bet pay for a 15 year old looking for his first job.(melbourne)?
Unless you want to do hard manual labour you won't get excellent pay at your age...

However, remember you do get paid more on weekends, public holidays etc.... My son worked at Coles - started at $7.70 (approx) the minimum wage for Qld, but working Sundays you can get over $10 an hour ....

You also get a staff discount card if you work for the Coles/Kmart group, which you mum can even use on her food shopping (that will make her happy) plus you get cheaper movie tickets through work etc...

All my sons mates applied online for jobs for Coles and Kmart and got called up for interviews and was working within a month, so don't let these online application forms put you off.

You can also try places like Subway, Mcdonalds, KFC, any fast food joints.

Supermarkets such as Woolworths, IGA, Bi-lo.

Department stores such as Target, K-Mart. Big W, Office works

Game shops, ebgames, Video/DVD rental stores ...

Hardware such as Bunnings, Mitre 10..

Movie Theaters, Library, Pizza Places, Small Takeaway shops etc

List is endless.

Get a CV together and start applying!

Remember it's all money in the end, and that's what you want

Good Luck
Reply:A 15 year old looking for his first job won't get to pick and choose jobs with excellent pay. You have no experience and no track record and no employer is going to pay you much more than the minimum until you've proven yourself. Take whatever job you can get and get that experience and track record so you have something to offer an employer.
Reply:When I started work at 15 I got $7.20 an hour in Queensland. For a 15yr old you can't really get 'good' pay because you have no skills that are desired by employers.

I would definitely try the oilfield service companies. Try places like Weatherford, Baker, Haliburton, Frank's Casing Crews, and other oilfield places. When I used to live in Lafayette and was operations manager for an oilfield service company we paid our welder good money. Oilfield would definitely be the place where I would start looking. Are there any websites where i can look for a job with no experience?

i just graduated from texas school of business, and im a licensed Pharmacy Technician. i just need a website where i can find me a job, though i have no experience.
Are there any websites where i can look for a job with no experience?
I don't have a website, but I do know marketing, so here's some valuable advice: Stop using the term "no experience". In job hunting you deficits need to be minimized and your assets emphasized. You have very impressive credentials. You probably have work experience, too, even if not as a Pharmacy tech. Emphasize your assets ONLY.

Do employers look negatively upon applicates that apply for jobs whom have just recently started a new job?

No, not at all. It's very unstandable that you need a job between jobs, or if you are looking for a second job. You will just have to explain yourself as to why you are looking for another job. Just let them know that you started the job just to get by until you got one that could help you out better.

In this hard time, there is nothing wrong with what you're doing, best of luck to you.
Do employers look negatively upon applicates that apply for jobs whom have just recently started a new job?
If you are applying for a job just after recently starting a new job, don't even bother putting the new job on your resume. You can fill the blank space of time, if necessary, by stating you took time off to handle family matters or something along that line. In any event... no need to report a job you've not worked at very long.

As an employer, I may question why you are seeking a new job so soon after starting one, but will listen to your answer with an open mind. Sometimes the new job isn't exactly what you thought it would be. I've been in that position in the past and chose not to devulge the fact that I had been employed for 4 months in what I thought was my dream job (it turned out to be the nightmare!). I have since moved on to a job that I absolutely love.

good luck.
Reply:Not if you have a reasonable explanation. Life happens, and sometimes a job that looked like a great fit turns out to be horrible, so I wouldn't hold it against you.

If you have a history of doing that, forget it.
Reply:I don't think so. You would likely be expected to explain why you were leaving this job so soon. I think anyone would understand if you started a job and found it wasn't right for you for whatever reason.

Any in sight would help, I need health coverage, and finding a secong job at night or on the weekends would really help if it offered health insurance
Looking for Part-time Job with Health Benefits?
Usually your big-chain grocers have ins. benefits like Dominicks or Jewel (albertsons) or stores like Target.
Reply:According to Federal Law, employers aren't obliged to give any benefits at all to part-time employees. The cutoff is 32 hours per week. If you work less than that, you are considered a part-time employee. Some employers will go ahead and give benefits to part-time employees, but they are few and far between. Small Privately-owned or closely-held companies are less likely to grant benefits than large corporations. Good luck in your search.

This is a poor use of your time. Who looks for potential employees on Yahoo Answers. You need to send out about 20 resumes and letters of application DAILY until you land a job... in 30 days you'll have 600 contacts. Work those numbers with potential employers and you'll find some success.

Looking for a new job. The recruiter did not finish checking references...what does this mean?
He had seen enough - one way or the other. He either really liked what he heard - and was happy w/ the rest of your portfolio - or he really DIDN't like what he heard.

In my management experience, I didn't have enough extra time to call all the references - I'd pick one or two, and unless I had some suspiscion nagging me or heard something peculiar, I didn't bother w/ them all. Plus, w/ all the legal restrictions on what former employer can/ can't say - employer references are often not terribly helpful. Personal reference aren't too great either, everybody can scrape up a few official sounding people to vouch for them.

What's the best way to go when you currently have a job and are looking for another?

I would suggest, to let them know you are "looking" not necessarly leaving, but "looking".

its much worse, if you dont tell them anything, then they get a call from a prospective employer to verify employment.

it looks very bad to both.

the prospective employer wont hire you because they will think you will do the same to them.
What's the best way to go when you currently have a job and are looking for another?
your community employment services.
Reply:You could update your information on your resume and post it online. Schedule interviews on your days off...or take a vacation day on the day of your interviews for a new job. Once your find a new job and are ready to make the move, ask your new boss for 2 weeks before starting so you may put in your 2 week notice at your current place of employment. Remember to complete all the work your are to do at your current job to the best of your ability and do not burn any bridges. Good luck!
Reply:What do you mean go? You mean leave work for interviews?

Just take the time off as vacation time and don't give an explanation.
Reply:Stay with your current job if you can and on your offtime, keep looking. If your boss asks about what you are doing and why, just be honest with him/her.

Looking for a job?

Should an agency ask you for your payslip of a previous job in a company that you left, should you give it to them? I think that people look for better paying jobs and therefore cannot divulge exactly how much they earned in their previous employment.
Looking for a job?
i don't think so! that is private information. alot of places do ask what your rate of pay was at your previous employers and you fill that in on your application. i would ask them why is it needed? the only places i know of that should see payslips are legal offices like for people who need to get or pay child support or recieve benefits like foodstamps and medicaid.
Reply:Oh no!!!

They Should NOT ask!

And you should NOT give it!!
Reply:i don't think you should give it to them, UNLESS you know they're reputable, and practise a privacy policy or sorts. such agency scams are quite common these days. so it's better to keep personal details to yourself.
Reply:i agree with you.........i do not see why they should need to see your pay stub from previous jobs,.,,they have your application and they can call the places you worked if they want.........but i guess they can make up there own rules and do what they want..........

Looking for a job...?

when looking for a job is it ok to send your cv out to places that haven't actually stated they are in need of staff, if you see what i mean?? I'm looking for a job for january so i thought if i sent my cv to a couple of places now then if something came up they could let me know?hope that makes sense. Any advice,/ suggestions would be helpful thanks.
Looking for a job...?
Yes, it's recommended. Coz sometimes the employer is thinking of hiring but he haven't made his decision final. And your CV at that time makes his procrastination vanish and the ball is in your favor.

Good Luck
Reply:Somebody please hire me!
Reply:yes that is ok to send cv out. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!
Reply:I have years of experience with hiring people. It is perfectly fine to send what they call "unsolicited" resumes to a company. Since you are looking for a job in January I suggest making an investment in your future by getting a good interview skills book and role playing with a friend.

Looking for a job...?

I'm a hard-working high-school 16 y/o junior with a 4.6, perfect attendance, active at school, and hoping to still get a summer job somewhere in southern California. Probably won't be a able to work much into the school year, studies and sports will take up a lot of my time. Is it worth still looking for a job? What place might hire me at this point? I really would like a job, but I have begun to resign myself to the possiblity that I probably won't get one. Suggestions, etc. very welcome.
Looking for a job...?
I would suggest a part time job. That should be easy with your talent and experience. You seem to be a highly motivated person. But please don't ignore the value of a good education.

There are now online courses, which will enable you to get a degree in 2 years while you work. An education is a long-term investment. It will put you in good jobs. It will also give you a lot of self-respect. Money is not everything. There are learning years and earning years. It is generally not a good idea to prioritize work before education. It is like putting the cart before the horse.

Peace and blessings!
Reply:Think...when you're in CA, minimum is 8. 8 is more than anyone gets paid where I used to work in Kansas. They(all Cali employers) have a reluctance to hire teenagers because they are not as experienced, so their work is worth less, and so why pay them 8 when they could pay an illegal .5 or an 'affirmative action' black gay or disabled for the same price.
Reply:I started doing typing jobs in offices, schools. I was also a papergirl at your age. I had the premo "downtown" route and made good tips. been proven to be harder than it seems. Any suggestions and don't tell me to go to monster and post my resume online...been there done that. I'm still young and not that experienced just out of school.
Looking for a job?
Correct: Monster, Career Builder and other Job Sites are complete waste of time, I have not met a person to date who has gotten a Job through these sites.

Best Option: What are your friends doing? Contact your, Friends form College who graduated with you with same major or similar.

Find out where they are working, Contact those companies directly just drop in and talk to operations manager, do not try the HR Bullshit route, Operations Managers are always looking for new employees and they can help you with HR as well.

Good Luck!
Reply:Should start from small simple jobs like clerical assistant, sales person etc..
Reply:What kind of job do you want? Decide what field you want to work in, and research companies in that field and call them about employment! Now with the internet, you can find anything! You will have to start at the bottom, sucky pay, but, you get your foot in the door. Find something that interest you and find companies that fit that interest!

Good luck!
Reply:There are a lot of search engines and nifty ways to find jobs out there, but the old ways are still the best. Put together a good looking resume for the type of job you want. Even if you don't have a lot of work experience you can highlight the personal strengths you have that would make you look good to an employer. Dress nicely, take your new resume, and knock on every door to the businesses that have the position you are looking for. Always be nice to the person taking your resume. They decide if it gets to anyone important or thrown away.

Good luck!
Reply:Well, you're absolutely right. Finding a job is harder than it seems.. For starters make sure you have a resume.. Since you don't have any job experience put school activities, volunteering and any summer positions you may have had.. Also get together some references from family/friends/teachers/neighbors.. People that know you. Do you need a work permit? Get that as well or find out how you get one.. Dress nicely and hit the pavement.. Go INSIDE businesses and get applications.. Fill them out while you are there.. You will be likely to need the following school addresses, social security numbers and references names/telephone numbers and possibly addresses.. So, be prepared or it'll be a waste of time.. INSTEAD of filling out applications and leaving.. Ask to see/speak with a manager and ask them if they are hiring.. Get a card and keep for your records of where you applied IF you don't hear anything call them back. Most retail stores will be getting ready for Christmas and they will need extra seasonal help.... Also, check out snagajob.com they have lots of jobs posted there.. If you post a resume GREAT.. However, you can always go to the location and apply personally... Also, if you like to babysit check out craigslist and see if anyone is needed childcare in your area... It would also help if you took a general child/infant CPR/First Aid class.. Given usually by the local RED CROSS... Good luck
Reply:Look for career fairs in your area...they normally will advertise them in the paper or even on the radio. Im not sure what your trade is, but it doesn't hurt to scan the phone book and send your resume to company's not looking for someone. You never know if they will need someone just like you to join the team! Also, get the word out through your friends. Often they know of someone in the field you are looking to get into and will be of great benefit.

I want to learn more about business. What sort of job should i be looking for?

That's a little question for a big answer.

It depends on which part of a business you want to learn?

Do you want to learn more about corporate lfe? then get a job as an account manager in a corporate.

Do you want to learn how a business works? Get a job in a small business, any job thats fits your skills and be interested and learn all departments.

There is no quick answer I'm affraid
I want to learn more about business. What sort of job should i be looking for?
One good way to learn more about business is by starting your own! There are lots of people out there that offer business support like Business Link.

But it depends what type of area you are interested in. Do you want to run you own, or are you looking to expand you business knowledge with a view to working for other people.

Most universities also run free workshops for people interested in starting businesses, so this might be a good place to find advice.

Good luck :)

Is it easy to look for a job while in Dalian, China?

I am a Filipino, and will be moving to Dalian, China. My cousin will be coming along with me to look for a job there. He will be going there in a Tourist Visa, while I will have my working visa. Would it be easy for him to find a job there? What are the common jobs immediately available for office positions?
Is it easy to look for a job while in Dalian, China?
China's economy is booming right now so the answer is yes. Be careful and make sure to have your work visa on you at all times. Its just cautionary but it saved my ***. The police never search you but if you dont know a law (Like me) it will help you out. Apparently you CAN smoke inside hospitals in China so when I got mad at someone they called the police I showed them the visa apologized to the gentlemen I offended and everyone moved on.
Reply:It was easier before, now due to the Olympics the PSB (Security Bureau) is cracking down on tourists working and changing to Z visas. In Beijing many foreigners on tourist visas have been refused when trying to change their visas and have had to return to their home country to apply for a working visa.

Sorry, but it's the government wanting to keep tabs on foreigners in this period.

Working illegally is ok, but if he were caught he'd be fined, along with his employer and deported.

Looking for a job at young age.?
Culver's minimum hiring age is 14 with a workers permit.

I called many stores because I am 14 looking for a job. This was the response they gave which makes me happy after looking for so long.

Find a local one go online and apply and go in store to apply or call and ask if they are hiring.

What I did was Google a bunch of business near my home and found their numbers using Google maps or their sites and I called and directly asked if they are hiring and what age do they hire at.

Try local grocery stores, pizza parlors, retail stores, fast food restaurants.

Reply:"captkev156" (his question was apparently deleted)

says he lives here but that is unlikely. He may live elsewhere in Louisiana, and the rest of the state views NOLA the way upstate NY views NYC.

No one here calls our city "Nawlins", and New Orleans is certainly not the "...rape capital, robbery capital, cancer capital, stroke capital, most people on meth capital, worst place to be a waitress capital, hurricane capital....". We are not even in the "top 25": http://money.cnn.com/2006/10/30/real_est...

Murders have spiked since Katrina, but that is due to territorial competition among cocaine dealers - you don't have to worry about it unless you buy or sell crack here.

Hurricanes very rarely strike NOLA and the last one to hit us before Katrina was Betsy in 1965 (which did NOT flood the city-proper)

However, that does not mean life is easy in post-Katrina New Orleans. Salaries have improved since Katrina but costs (especially rent) have also gone up.

Almost every business in the city has a "Help Wanted" sign posted, but you do need to line-up a job before you come here. Also do some research and make sure you will be able to live on whatever you make.

You might first try applying directly to the large hotels that pay a salary and benefits in addition to whatever you make in tips. An example is the Omni Royal Orleans (504-529-5333).

Also consider other jobs - there are intense labor shortages in the retail, medical, and legal fields plus most trades.

Good luck!

Looking for a job?
Unfortunately, I have been unemployed before also. It now seems recessions keep coming more frequently and are deeper. I would suggest applying for a government job. They are more stable and will generally provide better retirement income and healthcare. I have a job, but the pace is very difficult to keep up because the company has poor systems. The most important thing to do is everyday work as hard as you can to apply to positions and try to develop can contacts as possible. Over time it all adds up. I also recommend refining your resume for each position. Generally what happens to me is many jobs offers come at about the same time. This is about the same time companies begin to hire. From thanksgiving to about February, there are very few opportunities.

Anyone can apply as long as you're permitted to work in the US. Legal immigrants are also welcome. There are great opportunities for stay at home moms %26amp; dads, students are welcome!

What's good about them is they research and find legitimate jobs and they're not affiliated with the companies they refer. No commissions, benefits or incentives from the companies. Not a bunch of banners on the site, they do a really good service for the work from home community.
